Baikal Capitals

Tour of major capitals of Lake Baikal region.

 

Get acquainted with two capitals of Baikal Region – Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude. These cities are big historical and cultural centers of Irkutsk Region and Republic of Buryatia. Take an opportunity to listen to the songs of the native people of Siberia – Buryats, to taste national cuisine, to learn about traditions and beliefs of the native people of Baikal Region. And of course to meet Baikal – famous, ancient, but still unknown…

Duration: 9 days/8 nights.  Season: all the year round. Dates of arrival: on request

Day 1:
Arrival in Irkutsk. Transfer to “Irkutsk” Hotel *** (former Intourist Hotel). Check-in. Rest. Lunch. Bus excursion around the city with visiting the embankment of the Angara River, Znamensky Church and monastery where are graves of some of the Decembrists, the explorer of Siberia and Alaska, “Russian Columbus” Gregory Shelikhov. Here admiral Koltchak was executed by the bolsheviks – Russian scientist, military man, the founder of the Irkutsk State University. Excursion to the house of Decembrists. Dinner. On request – theater/organ hall.

Day 2:
Breakfast. Check out. Departure to Lisvyanka (70km) settlement on the shore of Baikal. On the way excursion to the museum of wooden architecture “Taltsy” where more than 30 samples of Siberian buildings and dwellings are presented. Excursion to the museum of Baikal Lunch in Listvyanka. Transfer to Irkutsk railway station. Departure to Ulan-Ude by night train (4 birth compartment).

Day 3:
Early morning arrival to Ulan-Ude. Transfer to the hotel “Geser”. Breakfast. Bus excursion to the Buddhist Temple – Ivolginsky Datsan (40 km) . Lunch – Buryat cuisine. Excursion to the ethnographical museum. Dinner.

Day 4:
Breakfast. Excursion to the historical museum. Visit to the old believers village. Lunch – Russian cuisine and folklore. Transfer to the railway station. Departure.

Day 5:
Early morning arrival to Baikalsk. Accommodation in families. Breakfast. Walk to the shore. Picnic – lunch. Rusian banya. Dinner.

Day 6:
Breakfast. Day at leisure. Picnic – lunch. Return back. Dinner.

Day 7:
Breakfast. Leaving for the Tunka National Park (210km). On the way excursion to the town of Sludyanka – mineralogical museum, fine art exhibition. Lunch. Arrival to the resort “Arshan”. Accommodation at the hotel “Sagaan - Daly”. Dinner.

Day 8:
Breakfast. Excursion to the Buddhist temple. Walk to the mineral hot springs. Lunch. Departure to Irkutsk (220km). Accommodation at the hotel. Dinner.

Day 9:
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport or railway station.
